Invested Dimension Winners

Invested Dimension offspring were the favorites at the Oregon Summer Classic. Dimensionally Rosita and So Sweetly Invested tied to win the 4 & 5-Year-Old Non-Pro Maturity. So Sweetly Invested, formerly known as Matties Dimension, a daughter of the great mare Dykes Mattie, and Wendy Katz are under the guidance of Bob Kail. Dimensionally Rosita and Brook Hokana were also 1st on 4 out of 6 cards in a large tough Youth Western Pleasure class at the Oregon Summer Classic.

Dimensionally Rosita and Brook Hokana continued their success at their next show, the VQHA Super Summer Circuit, they were awarded Circuit Champion in the 13 & Under Western Pleasure. They were 1st on 7 out of 8 cards and were 2nd  on the other card. They also won the Junior Western Pleasure the only day they competed in that class. Brook and “Rosie” are a dynamic team and have plans to qualify for next year’s Youth World. Also, watch for Dana and Rosie in the Jr. Western Pleasure. Rosie continues to amaze us all as she defeated all odds, over-coming pigeon fever, pneumonia, and pleurisy this last year

Reflected Dimension and Sandy Forkert also took home circuit awards from the VQHA Super Summer Circuit, in Temecula. They were Circuit Champions in the Green Western Pleasure and in the Amateur Western Pleasure. This team is under the guidance of Lynn McArthur. Lynn says he’s super talented in trail. Watch for Lynn and Reflected Dimension in the Jr. Trail this fall.

Hokana Highlights

Dana’s oldest daughter, Brook, has been busy preparing for the Youth World with her two nationally qualified reiners, Jay Dees Freckle and Dots O Diamond. Please come cheer Brook on as she shows in the Reining at the AQHA Youth World on August 4. The Reining finals are in the evening on August 5. Both Jay Dees Freckle and Dots O Diamond will be offered for sale after the Youth World. Brook and Dots O Diamond are currently ranked second in the nation in the Youth Reining.

Bree, Dana’s youngest daughter, made a quick recovery from having her appendix taken out. The operation did not slow Bree down at all. Bree and her new reiner, Streakin Caytalist, were circuit champions in the Novice Youth Reining at the VQHA Super Summer Circuit.

The Winning Strides Video Series

Maximizing Your Western Pleasure

Along with getting settled into her California facility, Dana has been busy promoting her Winning Strides Video Series. The videos are designed to educate horse owners and riders from the basics of horse handling and horsemanship, to competing at high levels in the show arena.

“Winning Strides, Build the Right Foundation and Learn to Communicate with Your Horse, A Complete Guide to Selecting, Caring For and Enjoying Your Horse”, gives solid advice for selecting the right horse, care and feeding, effective communication and safe handling, grooming, exercise and hauling. The tape runs 1 hour 40 minutes and is filled with clear how-to-examples. Retail price is $32.95.

“In this video Dana fills the gap between the Novice Rider and the Professional. She has a plain spoken approach with a contagious smile.” Dale Livingston, Multiple World Champion Trainer and AQHA judge.

“Winning Strides, Build a Lasting Relationship while Becoming a Great Rider, A Complete Guide to Western Riding and Tack”, puts the rider in the saddle with riding exercises. It also covers selection and use of equipment and bits, bridling, using spurs, correct saddling techniques and tips for staying safe. Running time is 1 hour 4 minutes. Retail price is $32.95.

“I’ve had the opportunity to preview just about every new video that comes out. In my opinion. Winning Strides is one of the best I’ve seen. It covers an area that has been sorely neglected and that is paying attention to the newcomer.” Jim Campbell, the Host of The Horsemans Radio Weekly.

For Western Pleasure riders and exhibitors, Dana has produced a two-set video package, “Maximizing Your Western Pleasure Horse”. Full of clearly presented professional instruction, the videos demonstrate exercises to teach a horse to better use its body, by improving flexibility, stride, reach, and use of shoulders. Methods to improve the riders seat are clearly presented, as are ways to present the horse to the judge in the best way possible. The first video runs 1 hour 40 minutes. The second has a running time of 39 minutes. Retail price for the set is $74.95.

“In order to achieve balance and perfection from your horse, you must be equally balanced with beat, rhythm and flow as a rider. These tapes will help you improve your riding skills and therefore improve your horses performance. Dana explains and exhibits these procedures as clearly and simply as possible.” Cleve Wells, Multiple World Champion Trainer.

The Winning Strides Video Series has been reviewed and endorsed by top horse professionals such as Cleve Wells, World Champion Trainer; Dale Livingston, World Champion Trainer and AQHA judge; Jim Campbell, the Host of the Horseman’s Radio Weekly; and Lynda Bloom Lane, renowned horse magazine journalist and book author. A portion of the proceeds from these video sales will go to CHAMPS, Christian Horseman Announcing the Message of the Precious Savior, a non-profit organization designed to help horseman spread the message. To order these fine videos please fill out and return the order form found in this newsletter. They also can be ordered online at www.hokana.com
